Using Headset Modes

Admin Mode

Admin Mode allows anyone with admin access to adjust settings locally on individual headsets.

Admin mode allows admins to adjust settings locally for individual headsets. This can be useful if a user is actively using a headset but needs a setting adjusted. Admin mode can be accessed in VR by entering an established four-digit PIN.

To enable admin mode:

  1. From your Device Fleet page, select the headset or group of headsets that you want to enable admin mode for.

  2. Click the Settings tab from the fly-out menu on the right-hand side.

  3. Switch the Admin Mode toggle to on.

  4. Create a four-digit PIN.

  5. Once you've finished, hit the X in the top-right corner of the fly-out menu to save your settings and exit the menu.

Remember to let the other admins know what the PIN is so that they can adjust settings locally on each headset as needed.

The admin mode PIN can be viewed or updated at any time from the Device Fleet section of your Device Manager dashboard.

To view or change your PIN:

  1. From Device Manager, click on Device Fleet.

  2. Find the headset you want to update and select it, then click the Settings tab from the fly-out menu.

  3. Under PIN Settings, you'll see the current PIN.

  4. To change your PIN, delete the current number, enter a new four-digit PIN, then click Save.

Kiosk Mode

Kiosk Mode enables a greater degree of control over the in-VR experience for a company's employees or end users. As an admin, you can use Kiosk Mode to ensure that the headsets will only be used as intended, such as for training or other Oculus for Business enabled app experiences.

To enable kiosk mode:

  1. From Device Manager, click on Device Fleet.

  2. Click the headset or group of headsets you want to enable kiosk mode for, then click Settings.

  3. Click next to Kiosk Mode, then select On.

  4. Select the app you want to enable kiosk mode for from the drop-down menu, then click Save.

Kiosk mode will be enabled on the selected headsets after they've synced with Device Manager. Rebooting the headsets will initiate a sync.

When kiosk mode is enabled, you can access settings for brightness, volume, resetting the headset view and more.

Settings for changing Wi-Fi networks, launching new apps and capturing your screen, for example, require approval from your administrator.
